Year 2000 Remediation Program

Procurement of Computer Equipment

This invitation for bids follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in the UN Development Business No. IDB27-527/00 of January 31, 2000

The Government of Jamaica has received a line of credit from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) towards the cost of completing Y2K renovation and it intends to apply part of the proceeds from this loan to cover payments under the contract No. 1210/OC-JA Public Sector Year 2000 Remediation Program.

The Year 2000 Project Office now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply of; (a) computer equipment; and (b) PC deployment services, for twenty (20) user groups in more than twenty (20) locations in Jamaica.

Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding procedures specified in the Basic Procurement Policies and Procedures of the Inter-American Development Bank, and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the Banks guidelines

Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from, and inspect the bidding documents at, the Year 2000 Project Office at the address below, from Monday, July 3, 2000 to Friday, July 14, 2000 during the hours of 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Jamaica time). A complete set of bidding documents, in English may be purchased as of July 3, 2000 at a non-refundable fee of US$100 (which does not cover the cost of delivery). Payment should be in the form of a certified cheque or bank draft made payable to the Permanent Secretary - Office of the Cabinet.

International bidders may appoint a local agent to purchase and deliver the documents on their behalf. Alternatively, The Year 2000 Project Office may courier the document at the bidders expense; in this case, the bidder should provide to the Year 2000 Project Office, its account information for the courier service.

Bids must be delivered to the address below no later than 10:00 AM (Jamaica time) on Thursday, August 14, 2000. All bids must be accompanied by a bid bond, in an acceptable form, in an amount equivalent to not less than 2 per cent of the bid amount in a freely convertible currency. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of bidders representatives who choose to attend at the address below at 10:15 AM (Jamaica time) on Thursday, August 14, 2000.
