HURRICANE KEITH EMERGENCY RECOVERY PROJECT

GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE
The Government of Belize has requested a loan of approximately US$20 million from the Inter-American Development Bank, through the Emergency Reconstruction Facility, to assist in the rehabilitation of physical infrastructure damaged during Hurricane Keith in early October 2000.
The activities to be financed under this Facility may include: (i) clean up and removal of rubble; (ii) the control and stabilization of access roads, bridges and related structures; (iii) the control and stabilization of storm water drainage; (iv) repairs to water supply and sanitation systems; (v) provision of emergency relief and medical supplies; (vi) repair and restoration of schools and health facilities; (vii) the provision of temporary shelters; (viii) consulting services to conduct detailed evaluation, engineering design, construction supervision and project management services.
Specific Procurement Notices for the procurement of consulting services and contractors with respect to each component of the project will NOT be published in "Development Business", but will be published in the "Amandala" (www.belizemall.com/amandala) and the "Belize Times" (www.belizetimes.com) newspapers published in Belize. There will be no restriction to international participation of firms from IDB member countries in the bidding for the procurement of goods and services.
The project will be implemented over the next twelve months, and it is expected that notices will be published for all components during the fourth quarter of year 2000 and the first quarter of year 2001.
