Completion of New Providence Road Improvement Project

 

Construction and Rehabilitation of Roadway

The Government of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas has received a loan in the amount of US$ 46,200,000 equivalent from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) toward the cost of the New Providence Road Improvement Project, and it intends to apply a portion of the loan proceeds to payments for goods, works and related services to be procured under this project. The project comprises the rehabilitation, improvement and expansion of the road network on the island of New Providence in The Bahamas.

 

Procurement of contracts financed by the loan will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the IDB’s Guidelines: Basic Procurement Policies and Procedures (1995 as amended by the addendum dated 1998) and is open to all bidders from eligible IDB’s member countries as defined in the guidelines.

 

The Ministry of Works and Utilities of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas now invites construction firms wishing to prequalify for completing the construction and rehabilitation of approximately 22 of the 24.6 miles of roadway, that have been started under a previous contract (the original contractor having gone into receivership), to submit their respective prequalification proposals in sealed envelopes, with proof of their legal status and technical and financial capacity for the provision of construction services.

 

Interested parties may inspect the prequalification documents at and obtain further information, including eligibility to participate, from the address below.  Prequalification documents may be obtained by interested parties at the same address, between 0900 and 1600 hours, Mondays to Fridays, starting 31 October 2002 upon payment of a non-refundable fee of B$ 100. Payments may be made in cash, certified check, bank draft or money orders, payable to the Public Treasury of The Bahamas.

 

Completed prequalification proposals must be clearly marked “Prequalification Application, Completion of New Providence Road Improvement Project”, and submitted in duplicate to the Director of Public Works at the same address, no later than 1600 hours on or before 16 December 2002. Late applications will not be accepted.
