1.        BACKGROUND

 

The Kingston Restoration Company (KRC), an urban regeneration agency that specializes in inner city renewal has received a grant from the Inter-American Development Bank (“the Bank”) towards the Kingston Urban Renewal Project. The overall goal of the project is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life in inner-city Kingston through the design and implementation of strategies for the regeneration of poor communities.

 

It is intended that a portion of the grant funds will be applied to eligible payments under the contracts, which are listed in this notice.  Payments will be made only at the request of the executing agency and upon approval of by the Bank, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the TC Agreement between KRC and the Bank.

 

The specific project objectives are:

 

  1. To support public involvement processes and strengthen Community Based Organizations (CBOs )

 

  1. To upgrade the housing and environmental conditions

 

  1. To foster employment opportunities and business activities

 

  1. To identify and disseminate innovative strategies and instruments for regeneration of other urban communities in Jamaica

 

In order to achieve these objectives the Project will have four inter related components:

 

  1. Community Sensitisation and Organization
  2. Shelter and Environment
  3. Economic Development and
  4. Institutional Capacity Building and Dissemination

 

International bids will have to be advertised in the international press.
