Coastal Conservation Program (Phase II)

The Government of Barbados has applied for a loan to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) toward the partial financing of the Coastal Conservation Program Phase II, and it intends to use part of the loan proceeds to payments under the contract for the preparation of final designs and supervision of construction of investment works. The Government of Barbados intends to prequalify firms for the provision of these services.
The package of investment works, for which final designs and supervision of construction will be required, is expected to include, inter alia, the following:

Mechanical system for lagoon aeratingFirms, joint ventures or partnerships submitting an expression of interest must be from member countries of the IDB. The applicable rules of the IDB will apply in determining the eligibility of the firms. Works performed under this contract will be subject to the provisions of the relevant loan contract expected to be entered into between the Government of Barbados and the IDB.
Any firm incorporated outside of Barbados that is eventually awarded a contract by the Government of Barbados must register in Barbados under the Companies Act of Barbados.
The prequalification questionnaires and any clarification or additional information may be obtained from the address below. Any individual consulting firm wishing to prequalify must complete the necessary questionnaire. In the case of joint ventures, etc., each firm involved in the partnership must submit a separate questionnaire.
Applications will be evaluated in accordance with the following criteria:

Similar work experience in the areas of:CDesign of coastal engineering works, specifically for purposes of beach conservation, protection and environment
CPreparation of the tender documents for the execution of coastal and marine engineering works
CConstruction/supervision of coastal and marine engineering works
CPrior experience in Barbados or in countries with similar conditions
CLanguage proficiency (competence in English)
CUse of local consultants
A shortlist of no fewer than three and no more than six firms will be invited to submit technical and financial proposals for the preparation of final designs and the supervision of construction of coastal conservation investment works. The terms of reference and the contract documents will be made available to the shortlisted firms only.
Six copies (one original and five copies) of the completed prequalification questionnaire, clearly marked: APrequalification for the Preparation of Final Designs and Supervision of Construction of Coastal Conservation Investment Works@, must be submitted in a sealed envelope to the address below by 1600 hours on Friday, 17 August 2001. Late applications will not be accepted.
