The Government of Belize (GOB)
has received financing from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for the
upgrading of the Agricultural Health Services of Belize through the Belize
Agricultural Authority (BAHA).
The project is designed to reduce losses from disease and ensure the safety and
the quality of agricultural products for both the domestic and foreign markets.
A portion of the loan proceeds will be used for the procurement of laboratory
equipment for three laboratories:
· A food and water laboratory that will conduct microbiological and residue testing
· A plant pathology / entomology laboratory
· A
veterinary diagnostic laboratory
All procurement shall be subject to the provisions of the loan agreement
between the GOB and the IDB.
The items to be procured under the bid have been grouped into lots. An
acceptable bid would include any single lot, combination of the lots, or all of
the lots below:

Bids are invited from eligible suppliers of the IDB’s member countries for the
supply and installation of the equipment.
Bidding documents may be obtained at the address below between 0830 and 1600
hours (Belize time), Monday through Friday upon payment of a non-refundable fee
of BZ$ 100 or its equivalent in a freely convertible currency. This amount is
to defray printing and mailing/shipping costs. The method of payment must be in
the form of a certified check or an international money order made payable to
Belize Agricultural Health Authority. Queries may be directed to Managing
Director at the address below.
Completed price schedules and the bid form must be submitted in a sealed
envelope clearly marked: “Tender for the Supply of Laboratory Equipment to
BAHA” to the address below by 1000 hours (Belize time) on Monday, 26 August
2002.
All bids will be opened on the same date, at 1015 hours, at the same address in
the presence of bidders or their representatives who choose to attend. Bids
reaching the address after the closing time and date will not be considered. No
bids will be considered unless they comply with the conditions set out in this
notice and in the bidding documents.
