The Government of Jamaica has received a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) toward the cost of the Parish Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP), and it intends to apply part of the loan proceeds to payments under the contract for the procurement of wireless local area networks (LAN) for local authorities.

The Ministry of Local Government and Community Development, the executing agency, will be procuring wireless LANs, routers and configuration services for the thirteen local authorities island-wide under the PIDP.

The PIDP is jointly financed through the captioned loan by the Government of Jamaica and the IDB. All goods, equipment and services, supplied under this program must originate from the IDB=s member countries. The procurement of goods financed by this program will be subject to the provisions of the loan contract mentioned above.

Goods and services to be procured under Lot 1 (wireless computer LANs) includes the following:

• Installation and configuration of wireless LAN clients, spare wireless access points and

Any interested bidder from the IDB=s member countries are invited to bid.

A complete set of bidding documents, in English, may be purchased by interested eligible bidders, as of 1 April 2002, on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of J$ 5,000 or US$ 120 in the form of a certified check or bank draft in favor of the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development. The bidding documents will be sent by international courier service.

All bids must be accompanied by a security of no less than 1 per cent of the bid price in a freely convertible currency. Envelopes with bids shall be deposited in the tender box at conference room C, on the ground floor of the address below, by 1200 hours (local time) on 15 May 2002. They will be opened at 1230 hours on the same day, in the presence of the bidders= representatives who choose to attend, at the same conference room. Late bids will be rejected.

The evaluation, approval and award of these tenders will be done by the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development, and the Government Contracts Committee. Interested bidders may obtain the bidding documents or further information from:
