Technology Education Program for Teachers in Secondary Schools

Loan No. 1180/OC-TT

The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, through the Ministry of Education, has received a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for a Secondary Education Modernization Program (SEMP); the goal of which is the modernization of the education sector in Trinidad and Tobago.

Proposals are invited from international universities/institutions to design, develop and deliver a Technology Education Program for teachers in secondary schools.

The technical proposal shall be evaluated according to the following criteria:

C General background of the university/institution (10 points)

C Similar work done and prior experience (15 points)

C Qualifications and experience of personnel (25 points)

C Proposal plan of implementation/execution schedule (25 points)

C Accreditation status (10 points)

C Financial capability (15 points)

The contract will be of interest to a university/institution with the expertise in the teachers preparation to teach students at the secondary school level in technology education.

Universities/institutions wishing to submit proposals may obtain the terms of reference and other information from the first address below.

The proposals are to be submitted in two sealed envelopes. The first will contain all documentation concerning the professional qualifications of the university/institution which are to be involved in the program, evidence of having conducted similar programs in developing countries, references, proposed methodology for carrying out the activities as outlined in the terms of reference, work schedule and proposed schedule of deliverables. The second envelope will contain an itemized budget of the cost of the services offered.

Universities/institutions must submit one original and six copies each of the technical and financial proposal in separately sealed envelopes, clearly marked AInternational University/ Institution to Design, Develop and Deliver a Technology Education Program for Teachers in Secondary Schools - IDB Loan 1180/OC-TT@ (Envelope 1: Technical Proposal; Envelope 2: Financial Proposal), to the second address below by 1300 hours on Thursday, 16 May 2002. Late proposals will not be accepted.

Technical proposals will be opened shortly thereafter at the Central Tenders Board=s Office.

The Central Tenders Board reserves the right to void the procedures and no university/institution shall be entitled to compensation in such an event.
