Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project - Phase 1

Coastal Protection Installation

The Government of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas has received a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank to finance a Program for the Rehabilitation of Infrastructure (Hurricane Floyd) in the country. Part of the loan proceeds will be applied to the reconstruction of seawalls in New Providence Island.

The works, at eight separate locations, are for a value of approximately US$ 2.5 million, and contractors are invited to submit bids with comprehensive details of their relevant experience in undertaking similar projects. The contract will be awarded to the bidder providing the most economical and acceptable quotation.

The indicative quantities for major items are:

C Concrete seawalls: 4,000 feet

C Rock revetment: 17,500 short tons

Bidding documents are available at the office of the Director, Ministry of Public Works, for a fee of B$ 150 or US$ 150 in the form of a certified check payable to the Public Treasury, Government of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.

Bids must be delivered to the Director of Works at the address below by 1400 on Thursday, 14 March 2002. They will be opened immediately thereafter, at a public ceremony, in the presence of the bidders who choose to attend. Late tenders will not be accepted.

The Ministry reserves the right to reject any or all tenders.
