Low Income Settlements Program
Construction of Roads, Drains, Bridges and Culverts

The Government of Guyana has received financing from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) toward the cost of the Low Income Settlements Program. It is intended that part of the financing proceeds be applied to eligible payments under the contract for which this invitation for bids is issued.
The Low Income Settlements Program now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the construction of roads, drains, bridges and culverts at Block X Diamond, right bank of the Demerara River, in the county of Demerara, Republic of Guyana.
Eligible bidders may obtain further information, including eligibility to participate, and may inspect the bidding documents at the office of the Low Income Settlements Program (first address below), between 0830 and 1600 hours on Friday, 3 May 2002.
A set of bidding documents may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the same address and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of $10,000. The method of payment will be manager=s check payable to the Low Income Settlement Program. It will not be necessary to make the request in person to receive a complete set of bidding documents, since these can be sent by mail.
Bids must be delivered to the tender box in the office of the second address below by 0900 hours on Tuesday, 18 June 2002 and must be accompanied by a security of no less than 1 per cent of the bid price. It will not be necessary to submit bids in person since they may be sent by mail. However, the employer is not responsible for bids not received by the time and date specified for the reception of bids. They will be opened at a public ceremony, in the presence of the bidders= representatives who choose to attend, at 0900 hours on Tuesday, 18 June 2002 at the second address below. Late bids will be rejected and returned unopened.
Bidders registered in Guyana must submit a valid tax compliance and national insurance certificate with their bids.
